Hal Bates (Born Harold Simon Joseph Braitman, 26 Aug 1929-14 Jan 2008) was an active member of the entertainment media in Los Angeles for many years. At various times he was an editor and writer for publications including the Hollywood Reporter, Daily News, National Enquirer, Hollywood Now, and others. I know the former mayor still speaks warmly of this moment. What? He's ... really? Oh. The guy in the middle: he has an equal chance of calling this "me and Hal Bates" as of calling it "me and Tom Bradley," is the way I see it. Once he gets a blog, I mean. Actually, in terms of physical proximity, Hal should call this "Me and a bottle of A-1."
