Hal Bates (Born Harold Simon Joseph Braitman, 26 Aug 1929-14 Jan 2008) was an active member of the entertainment media in Los Angeles for many years. At various times he was an editor and writer for publications including the Hollywood Reporter, Daily News, National Enquirer, Hollywood Now, and others. In re Tichi Wilkerson, from her LATimes obit: "Her impulsive management style brought mixed results. She was known for giving untested writers their first jobs, but she could be hard on her staff. In one eight-year period during the 1980s, she changed the paper's managing editor seven times."
