HAL BATES: "NIGHTCLUB REVIEW: HANDELMAN STARS AT PLAYBOY CLUB"
I got stoned with Stanley one afternoon circa 1977, on a visit to his tiny L.A. apartment with a comedy writing partner. Stanley was a pothead and a huge fan of classic postwar jazz, and instead of doing much writing we sat around, rolled jays, and listened to old Blue Note LPs. A real vintage hipster... I enjoyed him tremendously.
